  • Author and technical lead of the Eastern Treatment Plant Adaptive Plan, for the evolution of Melbourne’s second largest plant to service growth and decarbonisation through to 2070.
  • Manager of in-house process modelling at Melbourne Water and augmentation planning models.

Melbourne Water – Senior Service Planner, ETP Service Programs

  • Development and ownership of investment programs.
  • Preparation of major business cases for infrastructure upgrades ranging from $100M to $1.1B. Significant stakeholder management, investment briefings and technical communication across the business. Management of consultants and contractors for concept design and investigations.

  • Contribution to Severn Trent’s 5 year asset planning function for wastewater treatment (AMP6 and AMP7), having written countless business cases (Process Options Reports and Process Design Reports).
  • Design and implementation of novel and innovative process units
  • Owner of the design standards for biological phosphorus removal and secondary treatment (design manuals).
  • Principal commissioning engineer for high-profile, high-risk projects including some of the UK’s first Nereda plants.

Severn Trent – Process Design Engineer

  • Optioneering and detailed design for wastewater and sludge treatment a vast range of treatment plant (or works, as they are known). From large activated sludge plants, trickling filters, rotating biological contractors, reed beds and lagoons.
  • Process modelling of both existing and new treatment works using GPSX. Managed the software training and upskilling across teams and governance for model updates.
  • Large data analysis for investigating and refining design standards across the company.
  • Pioneering the design and treatment of Hazardous Substances (emerging contaminant) at full scale. Managed the contaminant sampling programme.
  • Process advice to operational teams.

The University of Adelaide – Research Scholarship

  • Coding and development of process models for the production of cumene using @Risk and python. Modelling process risk and performance for steady state systems with complex recycle streams for statistical outcomes from monte-carlo assessments. This produced fast calculations for complex systems to provide input to research projects and development of a calculation tool for broad use within the School of Chemical Engineering.
